The 167th Allegany County Fair has now come to a close.  The weather each day averaged above 90 degrees, which shows in our lower attendance.

We, the Officers and Board of Directors, would like to say “Thank you” for the help and support given by the many volunteers, organizations, County Legislators, County Department of Public Works , County Sheriff and Deputies,  the Village of Angelica, the Angelica Police Department, the NYS State Police,  the County Rescue Squads, Cornell Cooperative Extension, 4-H, Angelica Forest Products for sawdust and Baldwin’s Lumber for sawdust, Kerton’s Florist for the flowers, Rob Chamberlain for hauling sawdust and waste as well as donation of logs for sawmill, Director’s families and our employees for a super job, done well.

The Allegany County Board of Legislators conducted their third meeting for the month of July at the Mini Theater on the Fairgrounds on July 22.  It is our belief that these meetings provide the general public an opportunity to see their government in action.  It is our sincere hope that the Fair-goers found this a worthwhile experience and that the Board of Legislature will continue to schedule a meeting at the Fair in future years.

Our Fair also welcomed New York State Senator Catharine Young and New York StateAssemblyman Joe Giglio.

To the exhibitors (4-H, FFA, and Open Classes), extend a hearty THANK YOU for the time spent preparing and attending the Fair, without you there would not be a successful Fair.

The Fair and Fair Book this year were dedicated to Harry and Alice Hurd.  The Fair Book cover depicted the announcers stand and a young Harry on his horse in front of the announcers stand.  Our (which is a collectable) pin showed just the announcers stand.

The “FAIR WITH A COUNTRY SMILE” wishes to thank all who attended the 2011 Fair and we look forward to seeing you next year for our 168th Fair on July 16th through 21st.  Keep tuned for some changes at the Fair, next year.
